Layne is the son of a friend of mine.  He graduated from high school this past Spring, thereby causing much trauma to my husband when he realized he was ten years older than the graduating seniors.  It will be my turn next year.  Layne’s mom and I met while working together in our church’s library and bonded over our love of books, getting great deals while shopping, and Masterpiece Theatre Mini-series.  Layne loves books and “old things”, just like we do, so I worked to create an old  look for this book plate which is in the front of a book meant for encouraging notes.  The script is Uncial and reminds me of the maps in Lord of the Rings. It looks black, but was actually a dark sepia brown color.  Bookplates are a great way to personalize a present or any other important book.
